Fingerprint Ornaments for My Forensics Science Classes
I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas Break! Since we have just completed a unit on Fingerprinting, I thought it might be fun for the students to create something special for the holiday season. But, the only problem is … I have 60 Forensic Science students! I needed to find something inexpensive that would also be cute 🙂 My students are Juniors and Seniors and haven’t made Christmas ornaments for their parents since elementary school. They were so excited!!
First, the materials…. Mosaic tile comes in many shapes and is generally around $3-$4 per sheet at Lowes. (Squares were $2.98 for 36 pieces and octagonal were $3.98 for 25 pieces) They cut apart easily with scissors.
Then, I went to Hobby Lobby for some assorted trimmings and things. All Christmas stuff was 50% off so most of these things were around $1.50-$2.00 each, including the ribbon.
The stamp pads were $2.99 and they had them in lots of colors.
Sharpies or paint pens work well to fill in details such as eyes, antlers, etc. I think they turned out really cute and were very inexpensive to make!
